EMERGENCY WARMING CENTERS

EMERGENCY WARMING CENTERS

Extreme Cold and Wind Chill Safety:
The National Weather Service anticipates frost bite may occur in less than five minutes on bare skin Friday night and Saturday morning.

  • Whenever possible remain inside.
  • If outside, wear loose-fitting layers, hats, mittens, mouth coverings, and water repellant outerwear.
  • Keep domestic animals inside. Do not leave pets outside and limit their time outside to 5 minutes; protect their feet if you can. Domestic animals are not meant for these temperatures.
  • Heat your home safely. Be sure to double check fuel levels in advance of inclement weather.
  • Residents are encouraged to check on elderly neighbors to ensure they are warm and safe. The public should not hesitate to call for support in case of emergency.
